Do I need a website already?
No. We can build a custom website for you (see pricing). If you already have a website or app, your developer can connect it to Soko Sensei through our API.
Does the money come to me?
Yes. Customers pay straight into your own M-Pesa paybill or till, or your Pesapal account. We never hold your money.
Can customers pay by card?
Yes. Pesapal lets customers pay by card or mobile money on a secure Pesapal page. M-Pesa payments appear as a prompt on the customer's phone.
Can I use my till number instead of a paybill?
Yes. Soko Sensei works with both paybill numbers and Buy Goods till numbers. A personal M-Pesa number can't receive these payments, but we can guide you through getting a till from Safaricom.
Do my customers need to download an app?
No. Customers shop and book on your website from their phone's browser and pay with the M-Pesa prompt that pops up on their phone.
Can I use my own web address?
Yes. Bring a domain you already own, or we can register one for you at current Kenyan registrar rates.
What happens if I miss a renewal?
We remind you by email 30 days, 7 days and 2 days before. If a renewal is missed, that part of your account is locked until you renew. Nothing is deleted: your products, orders and customers are all still there.
Is there a contract?
No commitment. The platform is paid monthly.
Is my data safe?
We never sell or share your data, and your payment keys are stored encrypted. Full details are in our privacy policy. Read the privacy policy.
Can I use Soko Sensei with my own website?
Yes. Soko Sensei works as a headless e-commerce backend: your developer reads products and services, takes orders and bookings, and starts M-Pesa and Pesapal payments through our API, while you manage everything from the dashboard. Developer guide.
